American Reformer‘s mission is to reinvigorate historical American Protestantism and provide a unique space for engagement with the rich tradition of Protestant social and political thought. As such, we generally publish writers who are working within the Protestant tradition. Occasionally, we will on a case-by-case basis consider authors of other traditions who are aligned with our mission and conversant with our journal’s emphases. These pieces will typically be published in our Forum section.
We do not enforce a strict word requirement on our authors, but 1000-2500 words is the average range for pieces we publish; we will run longer but not shorter pieces. We prefer hyperlinks to footnotes but are flexible with citation format.
Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we unfortunately do not always have time to respond to every submission. If you have not heard from American Reformer after 10 business days from submitting your article, you may consider it declined and feel free to submit the same article to other publications.
