The Cover-ups Just Keep on Coming
Who actually ran the country during the four years between Trump’s presidential terms? It’s increasingly looking like it wasn’t Joe Biden.
As an astute commentator noted, “It’s just so perfect that Joe Biden, only our second ever Catholic executive, will be viewed by history as a presidential antipope. Eventually everyone will agree that one didn’t really count.”
Move over, Edith Wilson, who famously acted as a shadow president after her husband had a stroke in the fall of 1919. What was once considered a conspiracy theory—that the 46th “president” was part of a small committee of advisors, of course including Jill Biden, who were jointly acting as president—has now become extremely plausible.
This is much like when a regency council ruled in the stead of King Edward VI when he was too young for the throne. But in our case, this was done not for the cause of the country but for prideful self-interest. American traditions and practices such as self-government, liberty rightly understood, and the Constitution, both the written and unwritten ones, were overridden by a visceral hatred of Donald Trump and his supporters. This is the “sacred democracy” the Democrats and their supporters in Big Eva circles and elsewhere keep voting for.
The supposed rolling constitutional crisis of the first Trump term that we were told about ad nauseam from the Democrats was simply projection: the actual crisis occurred during all four years of “Biden’s term.”
This scheme was in clear violation of Article II of the Constitution, which vests the executive power wholly in the President of the United States. It was aided by administration officials like former Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who constantly told lies about the president’s health to the highly sympathetic stenographers in the media. Those who actually upheld the practices of good journalism and kept asking questions—and were ultimately proven right—were fiercely attacked and shunned by their compatriots.
As James Kirchick notes in a devastating account of Biden’s mental state, both before and while he was in office, “Befitting an inner circle dubbed the ‘Politburo,’ the Biden ascendancy in many ways resembled the Soviet Union in the early 1980s when three successive geriatric leaders died within as many years.” Apart from Jill Biden, the “Politburo” included long-time Biden aide Mike Donilon, White House counselor Steve Richetti, Biden’s chiefs of staff, the indefatigable Anita Dunn, and comms staffers TJ Ducklo and Andrew Bates. They carried out a strategic campaign of obfuscation, gaslighting, and targeted attacks to keep the public off kilter, forcing them to question what they were in fact seeing: a president who clearly lacked the mental faculties to remain in office.
Apparently, the Biden team thought another cover-up was needed to stop everyone from talking about this one.
On the cusp of the publication of a new book detailing how Biden’s mental lapses were systematically concealed and the release of the transcript of the president’s discombobulated interview with special counsel Robert Hur, we found out that Joe Biden has advanced prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.
An oncologist who’s a veteran of the Obama administration said on MSNBC that Biden has likely had it since he entered office in 2021, if not before. Somehow, Biden was declared fit for duty after a physical in 2024—and somehow he hadn’t had a blood test that screens for prostate cancer since 2014. This was the same Biden who was, with Jill Biden’s enthusiastic backing, looking to run for another term in office until he dropped out of the race just weeks before the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
But none of this means that most of the media who are reporting on this story should be applauded for their efforts. Jake Tapper and his ilk may think they’re brave truth tellers, but they were complicit for years in castigating anyone who even dared hint that Biden was mentally compromised as president. There’s something to be said about not attacking those who’ve changed their minds after seeing new evidence, which Tapper claims has happened in his recent interview with Megyn Kelly. But we need to see many years’ worth of good reporting, retractions, and other positive signs before a person of Tapper’s experience can ever be trusted, much less lauded.
After all, Tapper is one of many “star reporters” who peddled hoax after hoax that all went in a single direction: trying to unseat a duly elected president in Donald Trump. From Russiagate to Trump’s two impeachments, Tapper and most others in the media consistently backed the ruling class’s efforts to get Trump out. Only now—well after it would’ve been courageous to do so—have these same people cynically turned on their handlers after they helped participate in a conspiracy against the American people.
Conservatives have railed against media bias for decades—but there’s something far more nefarious happening than just an ideological slant in reporting (which has been true throughout much of American history). There’s been a systematic disinformation operation that’s been run for decades by a bipartisan ruling class who’re bent on terraforming the country. The brilliant Angelo Codevilla once wrote that, for this group, “America is a work in progress…and they are the engineers.” Progress, of course, means rejecting our patrimony and accepting the latest mutation of liberalism as revelation itself.
From the family and our universities to Christianity and the Constitution, the ruling class has all pulled in one direction: away from America as it once was and toward government by a corrupt oligarchy that reflects their own deformed image, where nature has been beaten back with a pitchfork (for now) and our governing documents are merely rhetorical window dressing for the latest insanity to emerge from their group chats.
If you’re skeptical of such a claim, just consider this: Was there a single major story that made Biden look unfavorable at a particularly inopportune time during the 2020 election season? And then think of what Donald Trump has had to face regularly since his famous escalator ride 10 years ago. The question answers itself.
Sensing the obvious trap—that the ruling class will use human shields if necessary—Trump has strategically recast Biden’s health news as evidence that a cabal actually ran the country for the past four years. Though there’s a very good case to be made that Biden has always been a deeply partisan operator, as Steve Hayward has recounted at his Substack, President Trump is thinking about this problem at a higher level—at the regime level that takes on the ruling class’s authority.
Trump has his sights set on the people who used Biden so that they could stay in the catbird seat, running the country as their hapless figurehead stumbled around and forgot the names of sitting senators and famous actors.
As FDR tried to destroy the Republican Party for good—they represent the “spirit of Fascism here at home,” he stated in his 1944 State of the Union address, right as the U.S. was still fighting in World War II—Trump is trying to do the same to Democrats, and also to Republicans who trapped themselves in an ideological cul-de-sac.
Trump should work to make Gavin Newsom rethink daily about running in the 2028 election and trying to rehabilitate a floundering Democratic Party. Maybe eventually the party will be replaced by one that Christians can actually vote for in good conscience, and one that can keep Republicans accountable. But for that to happen, the current Democratic Party needs to be shattered. And Trump seems to understand what it will take for that to happen.
As Christians, we should pray for Joe Biden’s health—and especially that he would repent and trust in the Lord. And we should also make sure that the Democrats never return to power. These are not mutually exclusive objectives—justice demands it.
