Gage Crowder Gage Crowder is a secondary humanities teacher at Providence Classical School (Huntsville, AL), a contributing member of the Huntsville Literary Association and the T. S. Eliot Society, and a master's student in public theology at Birmingham Theological Seminary. His poetry and prose has appeared or is forthcoming in Poem Magazine, The Legend, Birmingham Arts Journal, and elsewhere.

Repairing Our Cultural Ruins

I think that we would do well to reclaim this Nehemian vision of Eliot’s—rebuilding our culture through rebuilding our families. Perhaps we find ourselves reading about the means for restoring order in our chaotic time precisely because we have not heeded the importance of our homes.
